Introduction
Data Backup is a backup program specifically designed for Windows users. It has a lot of features including scheduling the backup at specific hours, verifying if space exists at the destination, ease of use and some others. Check this Quickstart guide for the instructions on how to do a fast installation of the program.

Prerequisites:
-
a computer running Windows 7, Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 2008, Windows Server 2000, Windows Server 2003 or Windows Server 2008.
- the setup.exe file containing the Data Backup installation
1. Installing the program
Run the provided setup.exe to install the program. On most Windows systems it will install in "C:\Program Files\Data Backup\backup.exe". The config and log files are located in "C:\Documents and Settings\<USER>\Application Data\data_backup\" or "C:\Users\<USER>\appdata\Roaming\data_backup\".

2. Running the program
After the install is complete you'll find a new icon on Desktop named Data Backup.

Double click it.

4. Configuration
In order to configure the system go to: Settings

Here you must configure your remote server. It must be a Linux/Solaris system supporting rsync and ssh.
Insert the ip, the user, the password and the remote directory. The custom Syneto release allows you to add a user from the Data Backup client.
After you set your configuration you can test the connection to the server.

For local backup you only need to select the folder where the backups will be saved.

It's a good idea configure your mail settings to receive a mail with the results of every backup. This works great when you schedule the backups to take place in the night. Each morning you'll wake up and read how the backup completed successfully. What a great way to start the day!
5. Backup a folder

Choose the folder you want backed up.

How do you want to back it up? On the local computer or on a remote server?
If you intend to backup both locally and remotely, create 2 backups for the same folder and configure them accordingly.

Ready, the folder has been added and the program can backup on request (or at your chosen time).

You have a nice progress bar that estimates your remaining time and tells you what file is being backed up.

Here's a local backup with some specific scheduling settings, take a look and experiment!
6. Restore from backup
You accidentally deleted some folders and one of them held very important documents!
Have no fear, Data Backup is here:

Use the restore tab to browse through your local and remote backups.
Then, select the directory where do you want them restored.
Your important documents will be safely recovered.
