1. Introduction
Data Backup integrates well with Syneto Storage.
To properly configure a Syneto Storage we need to create a directory where we will store our backups and then a user with that directory as its home.
Then we will configure the Remote Backup Settings from Data Backup with the previously created username and his password. Also, in Remote Directory we will add the directory we just created.
2. Basic configuration
Please refer to this document for a basic Syneto Storage installation.
3. Create a directory for the backup
This directory will be used as a destination for Data Backup's remote backups.
Go to Folders & Virtual Disks.

Then add a folder with Compression turned On (compression increases system performance by improving disk IO at the cost of CPU).

You may add a quota to your folder that will limit the total size of backups the user can create. Data Backup will check if it has enough space before backing up to the remote directory and if the backup size surpasses the quota it will give a friendly warning.
4. Add a backup user to the system
We will add the user that Data Backup will use to connect to the Syneto Storage.
Go to Users tab.
Add a backup user with the home directory of the folder added in the previous step. The directory must start with "/".
You can test if the user was created successfully by logging out and using the user and his password for the login.
Great, now proceed with Data Backup configuration.
5. Configure Data Backup for remote backup
Now we must configure Data Backup to be able to backup remotely.
Press the Settings button (Impostazioni) and enter the Syneto Storage IP as Remote Server.
Then add the username you created in Step 4 and his password.
And lastly insert the full path of the directory you created in Step 3.

6. Usage
Let's test the Data Backup <---> Syneto Storage integration.
Add a directory and selecte Remote Backup (just like in the picture).

Then press backup and check if it was completed successfully.
