License types
Syneto Storage has two kinds of licenses:

Demo license
- the storage switches to this license that allows the whole functionality if the total storage size is less than 1 TB
- Trial licenses
- a one time license per client that expires after a defined period
- Perpetual licenses (feature licenses) - that never expire and permit the administrator access to various features
- Licenses for access to services - that are time limited
Available licenses
- Base License - It allows you to manage up to a number of TB of storage space. This license only expires when the disk space grow over the allowed limit (by adding new disks or replacing disks with larger ones).
- Maintenance License - Grants you access to software updates and permits access to our technical support. This license expires when the maintenance contract expires and is active from the day the machine is delivered to the end-user. The license also specifies the technical support level (basic, advanced or premium) from the support and warranty contract.
- Cache License - Allows SSD cache disks to be used in disk pools. This license never expires.
- Remote Backup Client License - Allows sending of snapshots (incrementally) to another storage appliance for backup and disaster recovery purposes. This license never expires.
- Remote Backup Server License - Allows receiving of snapshots (incrementally) from another storage appliance for backup and disaster recovery purposes.
How obtain licenses
If you upgraded from version Syneto Storage 2.0, you may not have a license, so please request it to your reseller or Syneto technical support by providing the following information:
- Your name
- Your email address
- Date of installation
- A copy of the invoice at purchase date
A Base License must be already installed on your machine based on your order. If you do not already have one please contact your distributor to obtain one.

Maintenance License must be requested when the machine is first installed at the client's site, since this license has a validity period starting from the installation date. This license must be requested from the Storage web configuration interface from the
Licenses page. Alternatively it may be requested from our web site at this URL:
http://www.syneto.net/en/support/register-appliance.
Other licenses must be requested from your distributor.
Installing a license
Once you receive a license, you must load it on your appliance to take advantage of it.
The license you will receive will be a digitally signed text with the license details like this:
To load this license you will have to copy whole the license text to clipboard (Ctrl+A, Ctrl+C) and paste it in the box that appears when you click the “New License” button on the Licenses page:
Now click “Add” and your license will be loaded:
